THUNDERBOLTS FL CHAMPS

Congratulations to the Windy City Thunderbolts who defeated Kalamazoo to win the Frontier League Championship last night. The Thunderbolts swept the Kings 3-0 in the best of five final series.

NORTHERN LEAGUE CHAMPS

The Kansas City T-Bones won their first Northern League Championship last night defeating the Gary South Shore Railcats 5-3. Congrats to the T-Bones.

OTTAWA PICKS UP OPTIONS

The Ottawa Rapidz (Can-Am) have exercised the 2009 options of Fraser Robinson, LHP, and Greg Dumouchel, OF. Both are former NYSL players.

ORANGE COUNTY WINS GBL

The Orange Country Flyers won the Golden Baseball League Championship 10-9 last night defeating the Calgary Vipers, winning their best of series three games to two. Congrats to the Flyers! Former NYSL players who have played for the Flyers include Pat Cummins and Andrew Wong.

SKYHAWKS ARE CAN-AM CHAMPS!

The Sussex Skyhawks built up a 6-0 lead and were never headed as they won their first Can-Am League Championship defeating Quebec last night 10-5.  Congratulations to former NYSL managers Dave Cash and Brooks Carey, who were coaches on the team, and former NYSL players Ryan Crespi, Mark Pappas and Khalid Aifify, all Sussex players this year.

OVER 50 MILLION IN MINOR LEAGUE ATTENDANCE

Obviously there are  a lot of people who still want to visit a minor league baseball game. This year more 50 million people attended a game at one of the 238 franchises who played this year. Congratulations to all.

SUSSEX ON BRINK OF CHAMPIONSHIP

If the Sussex Skyhawks can win at Quebec tomorrow night they will be the 2008 Can-Am champions. They lead the best of five series 2-0 with wins in the first two games 3-2 and 8-6.
